Interviews: Dappy
Costadinos Contostavlos, or Dappy to you and I, has been at Hollyoaks before with N-Dubz but this time we managed to get the little blighter on his own after he performed Spaceship with Tinchy Stryder outside the Dog. Dappy gives us the low down on his current favourite crop of music and what it was like working with Tinchy.
Your new track's called Spaceship. We've listened and it’s got nothing to do with Star Trek, Star Wars, the X-Files or any other Space-ship related cultural landmarks – so what is it all about?
I was talking to my mum one day and she was like, "I feel really old". I was like, "what do you mean you feel old? You don’t have lines on your face, you don’t look old". So I said to her like, "ok, money buys everything. Would you like a face-lift?" and then the slap I got was so hard it made me go straight into the studio and be like, "my momma thought I wouldn’t make it, but now she’s living in a spaceship, she said son I’m getting older, told her money buys everything, would u like a face lift?"
What’s it been like working with Tinchy?
Every time we go into the studio together, magic comes out. Number One went number one for four weeks and hopefully this new track, Spaceship, will be a big Summer hit.

Yeah, chinos – we like that. They’re all over the place now.
And also, match your trainers up – whatever you're wearing on your feet, make sure it matches the top.

Who’s your favourite Hollyoaks character?
Right now; Li'l Tom. Yeah.
Imagining you were cast in the show, what type of character do you think you would be?
Hmmm…I think I’d be one that, like, catches everyone out. Someone who's spontaneous and always has to have a little bit of trouble around them.
What would put you off a girl if you were on a date with her?
If she burped or farted.
You’ve got a song called Toot it and Boot it. Which one of our Hollyoaks girls would you like to 'toot', or perhaps just kiss?
Er…Mercedes has got the best body. Yeah.
