The Wanted
We caught up with the most wanted men in music...The Wanted. The quintet were getting ready in their dressing room when we met them something I'm sure all you ladies out there will be extremely jealous of. Enjoy.
You have a lot of crazy fans outside do they follow you everywhere?
Jay: Yeah, some of them we know exactly what their day has entailed because they've been with you all day, some have followed us down from a gig in Scotland, met us at the train station and then followed us here to Hollyoaks, the rest we've picked up on the way.
How do they find out where you are?
Jay: We've got no idea, we used to tell people where we were going but it got to the point where we couldn't do anything because they were all there. Now I've got no idea how they find us. We were saying if you wanted to improve MI5 security services, get our fans on the case as they work everything out, they are amazing.
The squealing girls seem to be a permanent fixture now, but what makes The Wanted squeal?
Jay: What makes us squeal? I don't know what makes us squeal lads?
Siva: When Nathan talks about his eyeballs!
Jay: Oh yeah! Sometimes Nathan gets itchy eyeballs and Siva hates it and it makes him squeal like a girl.
Siva: Not like a girl but I do hate it.
What's it like to be back at Hollyoaks?
Jay: It's cool, obviously stuff like this you think about where we were at in our careers last year.
Siva: Last year when we were here, we broke the table, we accidently smashed the stand for the table when we were messing about it went everywhere, was that you Jay?
Jay: No it was Tom, I'm innocent! Tom cleaned it up afterwards but then pretended it wasn't him, he just hung is head in his hands.
Tom (in the background): It wasn't me!
Is the Hollyoaks set the weirdest place you've had to perform or is there anywhere more odd?
Jay: Once in Germany we performed on a packed tram, which was kinda weird because nobody understood any English so they didn't know what we were saying it was all slightly bizarre. But this show takes the biscuit!
How has The Wanted's world changed since we last saw you?
Jay: People know our names and faces a little bit more, and the best thing is that people recognise the songs more. Last year we had a song on the radio which we hadn't even released when we came here, now we've got a bank of songs which people know. Hopefully it is a good omen that we are back again with the apt song "Glad you came"
Glad you came is one of the tracks you're performing today, what was the inspiration behind it?
Jay: Well, we just wanted a song that really captures that summer feeling, All Time Low kinda goes against that it was more about the fight to get that feeling but I think this is just a great summer tune that really fits this time. We were planning on releasing it later on but we decided this was our window to get the track out there.
What else are you guys listening to at the moment?
Jay: Siva come on what are you listening to?
Siva: Hmmmm, I'm listening to a bit of The Far East Movement, but mainly I've been listening to our own songs, we've just came back from a writer's week listening to some new tracks of ours, we did about 12 in the week it was mind boggling so that's what I've mainly been listening to, each other sing.
Do any of the clothes get mixed up or stolen on tour?
Max (in background): I'm wearing your pants right now Siva.
Nathan: He borrowed mine yesterday too!
Siva: He did not! Ewwwww. Does that mean I've worn the same one thinking they are clean?
What is the weirdest thing you've ever been asked for on twitter?
Siva: A picture of the colour of my toothbrush, which is a bit weird I've got no idea why somebody wants to see my scruffy little toothbrush. I was trending today actually, I tweeted about my dad because sadly he's passed away and today being Fathers' Day I tweeted "RIP daddy Kaneswaran, missed, loved and never forgotten"
