Interviews: Wonderland
We caught up with the wonderful Wonderland while they were here at the village. We found Sharon Condon, Corrina Durran, Leigh Learmont and Kasey Smith, Jodi Albert on rare form, have a quick peek at this interview.
How did you enjoy your time at Holloaks and was it as you’d imagined? We thought you were great.
Sharon: We loved it, Jodi told us a lot about it and we want to come back!
You’re having to rush off pretty quickly to catch a train to another gig is that what Wonderland life is like now?
Leigh: Yeah it’s a shame because we’d like to hang around but it’s a quite a big gig. Life is always so hectic now and we rarely get the chance to enjoy one moment but it was so much fun and we’re really glad we did it.
Jodi, Did you ever imagine that you’d come back to Hollyoaks in this capacity, rather than Debbie Dean?
Jodi: It is strange for me because obviously Debbie always wanted to become a singer and as the character I used to go to auditions for bands and now in real life I’m in Wonderland. It is weird how life has imitated art a bit but it’s nice because I love acting and I love singing and I got to do both so I’m a lucky girl.
We see that you’re billed alongside 50 Cent, G-Unit and Flo-rida at the Waterford Music Festival, a bit of a change from the Westlife crowd we’d have thought? Are you excited?
Kasey: We’re doing a gig in Waterford with 50 Cent, Flo-rida and G-Unit it’s going to be absolutely mad, it will be amazing and something a little bit different for us. We can’t wait to see the crowd and maybe we’ll do a little rap or something GGGGGG-Unit!
While we’re on the subject of festivals if you had to give one bit of festival dress advice for the summer what would it be?
Corrina: It depends where it is, if it’s in Island you’ll need your wellies and a raincoat and umbrella.
Kasey: Bit of dry shampoo, a few baby wipes, you should bring a pretty hairband so you can tie your hair up so it doesn’t get scraggy looking.
Do any of you get homesick when you are off on tour? What is the one thing you miss most?
Leigh: Yeah we do get a little homesick, it’s hard being away from your family and friends but because we have such a good time together you forget how much you miss home. We’re like a little family anyway.
Sharon: You miss dinners though, a nice big turkey roast or an Irish stew.
Corrina: We like to do things together when we have a day off like we visited Monkey World for Jodi’s birthday or go to the cinema just to keep our minds off home.
We noticed you’re all big tweeters, what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever been requested on Twitter?
Jodi: We love Twitter, we love being close to our fans, The Wonderland Army, they’re amazing. Most of the requests we get are for tickets and stuff like that.
Corrina: We did once get asked to join in with a game of adult I-Spy which was very weird, steer clear of that sort of stuff.
Finally girls, if you were stuck on a desert island, and were only allowed to take one item what would that item be?
Leigh: I’d take a photograph of all my family
All together: Awwww
Kasey: Haha you’ll be standing there naked with a photograph
Leigh: No I’d have clothes on when I get there then I could make more clothes while I’m there. I wouldn’t take my phone as I wouldn’t get signal
Sharon: Yeah but you could have you photos of the family on your phone.
Leigh: Yeah, but I wouldn’t be able to charge it and it would run out of power.
Sharon: Take a solar powered charger.
Jodi: This is getting silly now…
Corrina: If I could only take one item it would be a years supply of chocolate!
Sharon: That’s more than one item,
Corrina: No it’s not it’s just one big box!
Sharon: I’d take factor 50!
Jodi: I would take my husband! Or maybe a bottle of water, or tools then I could build stuff!
Sharon:I don’t think we’d survive on a desert island actually.
