AMY YAMAKAZI

Character: Charlotte Lau

Amy has been performing since she was just 10 years old, starting with voice over work for the Garden Studios. In 2001, aged just 14, Amy had a major part in two episodes of Holby City. In 2004 Amy played the lead role in CBBC drama series Powers and she went onto feature in BBC3 comedy’s Marigold and Coming of Age.

Amy studied Creative Writing at the University of Leeds before she joined the cast of Hollyoaks. She comments, “It’s a very unexpected but happy turn of events that I have joined the cast of Hollyoaks. I feel very lucky to be working on such a dynamic soap and I’m excited to discover what student life has in store for Charlotte.”

What one thing in your wardrobe can’t you live without?

A turquoise hoodie that I constantly wear around the house.

Do you do vintage?

I do, though I don’t seek it out actively. If I’m wondering around Manchester and I see a vintage shop I’ll pop in and have a look.

Festival fun or beachside bliss?

I’ve had so many traumatic incidents with portaloos at festivals that I’d go for beachside bliss.

Do you have any fashion tips?

Nail varnish helps to complete an outfit. I quite like clashing the nail varnish

What’s the one thing that make you feel super sexy?

I really nice, but comfy, pair of heels.

How many pairs of shoes do you have?

Not that many compared to some girls – probably about ten.

What other celebs wardrobe would you kill for?

There’s not one person who I see consistently in magazines and like their style. I pick things from lots of different people and put my own outfit together,

What’s your perfect night out: pub and gig or cocktail bar and club?

I like to start off with a pub and gig and then go on to a cocktail bar and club.

Who is the best dressed in Hollyoaks – on and off screen?

On screen, I quite like Charlotte’s style, although it is quite wacky! Off screen, I quite like Lydia’s style.

Can you live without hair straighteners?

No, I can’t because my hair’s naturally curly and without hair straighteners my hair in damp weather is buggered.
